So I had a thought... I'd say an odd thought, or a weird idea, but with me that's a given... so anywhere, here it is...
There's a church in my home town of West Seneca called 14 Holy Helpers. I'm not entirely certain what the name referred to. I always assumed it was the Apostles, plus perhaps Mary Magdelon and someone else. I'm not really sure... anyway, here was my thought... if it was a reference to the Apostles, what specifically is the image that title draws up supposed to be?
I'll tell you what comes to my mind. And frankly, it's going to get me in trouble with the big guy upstairs, but maybe, just maybe, He'll see the humor in this:
I imagine Jesus, wandering through the desert for 40 days, and the Apostles, out of boredom, start pulling the routine of the Dinks from SpaceBalls...
And Jesus, getting impatient and annoyed, keeps turning around and yelling at them to stop.
Has anyone ever had a thought like this?
